Use and Care of Dance Shoes

Our shoes are handcrafted. The leathers and materials used in their construction, including metal accessories, can be affected by exposure to friction with other materials and chemicals, weather conditions, and external elements that may cause damage to the product. For this reason, we recommend taking care of your shoes by avoiding rain, exposure to high temperatures, oils and grease, makeup and alcohol, including perfumes, as well as any other type of abrasive substance.

Leather is not an artificial product, but a completely natural material. Its entire production process is designed to preserve these characteristics. Each hide has its own structure, pattern of natural marks, and variations in tone. This is why every hide is unique and genuine.

Please keep in mind that when trying on your shoes, it is normal for them to feel slightly snug and stiff because they are new. Remember that with use, the fibers of the material give and soften, especially when it comes to genuine leather.

You should also keep in mind that, over time, natural wear and tear will occur as a result of use, as happens with any product.

Below, we provide some useful tips to help reinforce the proper care of your dance shoes:

  • Avoid contact with inks, oils, paper, carbon paper, and cosmetics that may cause irreversible damage.
  • Do not use a washing machine or dryer to clean this product. 🚫
  • Do not clean or wash the product with chemicals, abrasives, detergents, bleach, or solvents. 🚫
  • Before applying any cleaning product, conditioner, or protector, make sure it is suitable for the material of your shoes. Some products may alter the color, finish, or texture.
  • Leather products are not waterproof and should not get wet.
  • Do not use your shoes on damp or wet surfaces, as moisture may affect the materials and the condition of the product.
  • If the product gets wet, allow it to dry at room temperature and in the shade. Never dry it directly in the sun or expose it to high temperatures.
  • Keep your shoes away from direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as this may dry out certain materials and affect their color or finish.
  • After wearing your shoes, allow them to air out before storing them. Avoid storing them immediately in enclosed spaces if they are damp from perspiration.
  • Make sure the shoes are completely dry before storing them to help preserve the materials.
  • Avoid impacts, friction, and rubbing against surfaces that could tear or damage the materials of the product.
  • Use your dance shoes on the surfaces for which they were designed. Avoid walking in them outdoors or on abrasive surfaces, as this can quickly damage the sole and other materials.
  • We recommend storing your shoes in open-weave bags that allow the product to breathe, such as the one provided with the product. This helps prevent moisture condensation that could affect the proper preservation of the material.
  • Avoid storing the shoes in direct contact with other objects that could scratch them, stain them, or transfer color onto them.
  • Avoid bending, crushing, or placing unnecessary pressure on the shoes during storage or transportation, as this may alter their original shape.

Important: Dance shoes with suede or split-leather soles are designed to be used only on smooth floors, such as wood or ceramic surfaces. Using them on rough surfaces, such as pavement, will shorten the lifespan of the shoes.

Sole Protector: Some shoes may include a thin, transparent plastic protective film over the sole. This protector helps protect the sole during transportation or storage from scratches, dust, and minor abrasions.

The protector can be removed before you begin using the shoes. It is not designed to be used as part of the sole while dancing.

Recommended Care According to the Material

Shoes with Smooth Leather

*It is recommended to keep the leather conditioned by using colorless waxes or neutral shoe polish for light colors. Do not apply excessive amounts.

*Do not apply any product containing silicone directly to the leather, as it may alter or damage its color.

*Before applying any product to the leather, test it first on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure it does not alter the color or finish.

*Apply waxes or recommended products in small amounts and gently distribute them with a clean, soft cloth.

Shoes with Patent Leather

*Do not apply any product containing silicone or acetone directly to patent leather, as it may dull or damage the patent finish.

*If your patent leather shoes have lost their shine, you can use products specifically designed for this type of material. Alternatively, as a quick home solution, you can apply a small amount of olive oil, petroleum jelly, or baby oil to a cotton pad or soft cloth and gently rub the surface. We recommend testing it first on a small, inconspicuous area to check the result.

*To clean and polish patent leather, use a clean, soft cotton cloth that is slightly damp. Avoid using brushes or objects that could scratch the surface of the shoe.

*After wearing your shoes, you can gently remove dust or small marks from the surface using a clean, soft cloth.

*Do not leave patent leather shoes near heat sources such as radiators, heaters, or hair dryers. Exposure to heat may cause the material to wrinkle, dry out, or crack.

*Avoid leaving patent leather shoes in direct contact with each other or with other materials for prolonged periods, as this may cause marks or color transfer.

*Avoid bending or applying unnecessary pressure to the shoe's flex areas, as this may contribute to the appearance of marks or cracks in the finish.

Shoes with Satin or Synthetic Materials

Care instructions may vary depending on the type of satin or synthetic material used in the manufacture of the product. The following recommendations are general guidelines intended to help you keep your shoes in good condition.

*For shoes made of satin or containing synthetic materials, we recommend using Frotex cleaning cream. You can apply it and gently clean the shoes using a very soft-bristled brush or a cotton cloth.

*Avoid getting satin or synthetic shoes wet. If they become damp, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature and in the shade. Do not use hair dryers or expose them directly to sunlight or heat sources.

*Avoid contact with oils, grease, perfumes, makeup, and other substances that may stain or alter the color of the material.

*Do not rub stains or dirt forcefully on satin, as friction may alter its texture, appearance, or color.

*For cleaning, use gentle movements and avoid using stiff-bristled brushes, abrasive sponges, or products that have not been recommended for this type of material.

*Avoid contact with rough surfaces that could snag, tear, or damage the satin or synthetic materials.

*After wearing your shoes, allow them to air out before storing them. Once they are dry, store them in the protective bag provided to protect them from dust and contact with other objects.

*Before using any cleaning product, we recommend testing it first on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure it does not alter the color or appearance of the material.

Shoes with Suede, Nubuck, or Similar Materials

Care instructions may vary depending on the type of suede, nubuck, or similar material used in the manufacture of the product. The following recommendations are general guidelines intended to help you keep your shoes in good condition.

*For shoes made of suede, we recommend using a spray specifically designed for suede or nubuck. When applying it, wear gloves and follow the manufacturer's instructions, as these products can be difficult to remove from the leather.

*Under no circumstances should you use soap, detergent, or conventional cleaning products to clean suede, as they may alter its texture, color, or appearance.

*Avoid getting suede or nubuck shoes wet. If they become damp, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature and in the shade. Do not use hair dryers or expose them directly to sunlight or heat sources.

*Avoid rubbing suede while it is damp, as this may alter the texture and appearance of the surface.

*To remove dust or surface dirt, use a brush specifically designed for suede or nubuck, using gentle strokes in the same direction.

*Avoid contact with oils, grease, perfumes, makeup, and other substances that may stain or alter the color of the material.

*Avoid contact with rough surfaces that could damage, scratch, or pull out the suede fibers.

*After wearing your shoes, allow them to air out before storing them. Once they are dry, store them in the protective bag provided to protect them from dust and contact with other objects.

*Before applying any product to suede or nubuck, we recommend testing it first on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure it does not alter the color or appearance of the material.

Dance Sneakers

Our dance sneakers are designed to facilitate movement and reduce friction with the floor. For this reason, the sole is not made of rubber.

The soles of our sneakers are made of polyurethane, a material designed to provide a lightweight and flexible sole, with good shock absorption during movements and jumps.

Other important care recommendations:

  • *Do not store the sneakers in damp or humid places. Moisture can affect the sole and other materials, as well as their proper preservation.
  • *We recommend wearing the sneakers regularly to help keep the sole in good condition.
  • *Do not use detergents, soaps, or harsh cleaning products to clean this type of footwear.
  • *For safety reasons, avoid using dance sneakers on stairs, as their split or separated sole is designed to facilitate flexibility and dance movements. This feature may provide a different sensation when using the footwear on steps and increase the risk of tripping.

Caution when using dance sneakers on stairs

Sole Care

Proper sole care is essential to preserve its characteristics and extend its lifespan. Since each material has different properties, we recommend following these guidelines according to the type of sole selected:

Suede Sole
  • *It is designed primarily for smooth surfaces such as wood, marble, and smooth-finish tile.

  • *Avoid using it on rough surfaces, pavement, concrete, or other abrasive surfaces, as they can quickly wear down the suede.

  • *Do not expose it unnecessarily to moisture or water. If it gets wet, allow it to dry naturally, away from direct heat sources.

  • *With use, the suede may accumulate residue and lose some of its texture. You can gently clean it with a brush suitable for suede, using delicate strokes to remove dirt.

  • *If you have chosen a double suede sole, the same care recommendations apply.

  • *If the sole has been dyed to match the color of the shoe or has a handcrafted finish, please keep in mind that it is normal for this finish to gradually wear with use, especially in areas that have greater contact with the floor.

CR2 Hard Leather Sole
  • *It is a more durable sole and can be used on a wider variety of surfaces.

  • *Even so, avoid prolonged contact with water, excessive moisture, or unnecessarily abrasive surfaces.

  • *If it gets wet, allow it to dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use hair dryers, heaters, or other direct heat sources.

  • *Periodically remove dust and dirt using a soft, dry cloth.

  • *If the sole has been dyed to match the color of the shoe or has a handcrafted finish, please keep in mind that it is normal for this finish to gradually wear with use, especially in areas that have greater contact with the floor.

Synthetic Sole
  • *It is the recommended option for frequent use and for surfaces similar to pavement.

  • *After wearing the shoes, especially outdoors, remove any dust, sand, or debris that may remain attached to the sole.

  • *You can clean it with a slightly damp cloth and then allow it to dry completely before storing the shoes.

  • *Avoid unnecessarily exposing it to very high temperatures or direct heat sources.

  • *Due to the characteristics of rubber, this sole may experience gradual wear and changes in texture as a result of normal use.

Regardless of the type of sole, we recommend:

  • Use each type of sole primarily on the surfaces for which it was designed.

  • Avoid unnecessarily walking on abrasive surfaces when the footwear is intended primarily for dancing.

  • Do not wash or submerge the shoes in water.

  • Allow the shoes to air out after wearing them before storing them.

  • Store them in a dry, cool place protected from moisture and excessive heat.

  • Avoid using chemicals, solvents, alcohol, or other cleaning products that are not recommended, as they may alter the materials or finishes.

Important: Please keep in mind that natural wear and tear will occur with use, as with any product. This wear is inevitable and expected as a result of normal use.
